I began my trip to Panormo early in the morning with my motorbike as Panormo is situated 20km east of Rethymno and is easily accessible by car, motorbike and also bus if you don’t have a vehicle. It was an easy but nonetheless beautiful road trip as the road is full of majestic viewpoints where you can make a quick stop to take pictures or just admire the sea and nature.
Arriving at Panormo I came across with the pure Cretan landscape and the picturesque village. I pretty soon found a parking slot by the beach to leave my motorbike, took my camera and started walking around the area. I was amazed by the clarity and colourfulness of the sea and the beach. In Panormo there are actually two main beaches and a few smaller ones. I began exploring the area firstly by the two small beaches close to the harbor.
I came across two very friendly locals that were fishing by the jetty, that guided me through where I should go and what was worth seeing. So I continued my stroll across the beaches till I reached an amazing viewpoint where I stopped to chill and admire the dazzling view of the sea, beaches and landscape.
After a few minutes of relaxation I began to wander around the village, where I found some of the most elegant villas I’ve seen in quite a while, many friendly locals ready to welcome me or guide me through the small village and various shops with local products as well as plentiful cafeterias and restaurants.
After a few minutes I stumbled upon a gorgeous little church, dedicated to Saint George, with a really great view of the smaller beaches of the area and the harbor.
Overall, I very much enjoyed my time in Panormos, as it was very soothing. I believe Panormos is a very suitable place for families and people that want to be close to Rethymno and the general area along with a relaxing, amazingly beautiful town to stay and enjoy their holidays.
