Geropotamos is located about 18km east of Rethymnon Close to the village of Panormo.

It is named after the homonym river that empties in the beach, giving the beach its definative cool, clean waters and often the company of a few ducks. It is slightly organized with umbrellas and a canteen that offers refreshments, coffee, water and food supplies. There is also a luxurious hotel just next to the river, which you can walk in, admire the view or stay at their private beach.

The beach is mostly quiet and not crowded, although sometimes windy, therefore very suitable for those who prefer to relax, enjoy a book or just sunbathe by the sea. Geropotamos beach is easily accessible, as it is under the bridge of the main road Rethymno-Heraklion and has frequent bus rides, just don’t neglect to ask the driver to stop there for you.
